Me again.

An adaptation of A Scanner Darkly will soon be in a theater near you, raping the legacy of this great book.

I can’t even think straight on this for all of the warning flags beating me about the head. First off, two words: Richard Linklater.

A comparable (and free) experience to sitting through a Richard Linklater film would be to simply endure some pretentious, contrived dialogue at a bad party. I’m not a fan. Much of what he has directed, specifically School of Rock and Waking Life, falls under the umbrella of regulation dogshit. He’s not as deplorable as Hal Hartley, but close.

A Scanner Darkly will be employing the life-like animation technique used in the insufferable Waking Life. That’s another warning flag.

Fred/Bob will be played/voiced by Keanu Reeves…also troubling.

Next up? Linklater is doing an ensemble piece based on Fast Food Nation.
