I just googled “Wesley Willis documentary,” and got a very disturbing amount of hits.

Is #10 some kind of nod to me?

Your mention of a mandolin player reminded me that I don’t like mandolins. So, the answer is….sort of.

Well, you know my position on mandolin players — especially at the moment — however Bill Monroe and Peter Buck do get passes.

You know, I’ve loved soft rock since the ’70s, completely without irony, so I’m with you there.

Find out when they air the Hall & Oates “Old Grey Whistle Test” from ‘74 on VH1 Classic for some pretty righteous mandolin action.

Well, I know you are worried about all that out there in the world, but what about THIS:

Great list. Don’t forget smug references to:
1) ‘Field recordings’
2) Bands as ‘collectives’
3) Arts venues as ’spaces’
4) Event organizers as ‘curators’
5) Anything at all being ‘a revolution’
And don’t even get me started on pirate references or calling people ‘bitches’ ala Dave Chappelle.

The “curator” comment gave me another:
*Shop Owners as “Curators”.

Whole Foods sells these 3-cheese mini-pizzas that are greasy li’l pucks of tastiness.
With you on 1-5, all the way.
What did vegetables ever do to you? I have never had a stalk of asparagus tell me about the indie film festival he’s curating; featuring a documentary about a quirky dog-trainer, with music by a local mandolin player collective, and premiering at a local repurposed garage/performance space.

“9. Indie Rock/Hipster/Scenester embracement/name-dropping of 70’s Soft Rock”
Does this mean I’ll never get to read another of your “Afternoon Rock” posts?
